Dinas Powys FC. Managers vacancy
After a successful season on the pitch, with the first team camped in the top half of the table all season, and in the promotion race until four games from the end, Dinas Powys are again in the hunt for a new Management Team, after manager Marc Cahill reluctantly stepped aside after struggling to balance his work commitments to Cardiff City, and assistant Phil Clay also had to step aside having increased his coaching role with Cardiff City.
A club spokesman said; - “Marc & Phil had kept us posted all the way along about their other commitments, so it hasn’t come as a huge surprise that they’ve had to step down, which has given us a bit of time to prepare. The fact they are in such demand is a testament to how highly regarded they are outside the club as well as inside, and as three of the last four manager’s here have now been snapped up by either a Welsh Premier League team or Football League set-up, we must be doing something right!”
“It’s another sign of the quality people they are and the relationship we have with them, that both have offered to help set up our pre-season programme which is due to begin on July 5th, and which the new manager can then take over, rather than having to start from scratch, which is a real help as our Welsh League season finished a month late.”
With the club hopeful of retaining the core of last season’s mainly local players, supplemented by having fourteen Youth players from their successful U18 & U19 teams registered for senior football last season, they expect to be able to hit the ground running with the addition of a handful of new players, to build on last season’s success.
The spokesman said,- “The aim must always be to improve on the previous season in all areas, and with the Committee also being strengthened significantly with some quality people joining us, we’re optimistic that will happen”.
