Dinas Powys Football Club Football Festival and Fete
Bank Holiday Monday saw the second Festival and Fete held by Dinas Powys Football Club at Bryn Y Don. The sunshine helped bring out another large crowd exceeding the numbers we had for the first festival last year, it has quickly become a firm fixture for many people in the Vale of Glamorgan. Nearly forty teams from under eight to under 12 girls represented local clubs, a new 5 a side senior mens competition also went well with six sides taking part. The afternoon was completed with tug of war competitions involving the under eight teams immediately following the presentation of their medals. The burger stand did very well as did the many other stalls.
Thanks to all the junior and senior sides and their managers who took part, also thanks to those who organised another successful day in particular Jan and Dave Cunningham, Dave and Sue Jose, Vince Driscoll, DPFC supporters Club, Jane Hutt, Chris Franks and everybody else whose help and support was much appreciated.

'Supporters raise the Dinas banner'

In support of Commercial Manager Jan Cunningham's tremendous hard work and  efforts to raise the profile of Dinas F.C. within the Community Links programme, the Dinas F.C Supporters have purchased  two decorative and informative display banners. Produced  by AST Print of  Cardiff, Chairman Frank Martin completes the presentation to Jan before Dinas's 2-1 home victory against Taffs Well.
Obviously the banners did the trick!

Dinas Powys Football Club’s inaugural Football Festival and Fete on Bank Holiday Monday was a huge success at Bryn Y Don with a large number of people attending to watch football games played between clubs from the surrounding area.

Boys mini football players from under 7 to under 10 and girls from under 12, 14, and 17 entertained the crowds across a number of pitches starting at 9:00am and finishing at 5:00pm. Besides the football there were stalls selling food and drink, jewellery, sweets, bouncy castle, and many others. The day was rounded off with fun sack races, space hoppers and tug of war.

The club would like to thank the clubs and managers who participated in the event including Barry Bluebirds, Porthkerry Panthers, Cogan, Barry Athletic, Barry Wolves, Six Bells, Master Mariner, Rhoose, Sully, Llantwit, Wenvoe, Cadoxton Imps, Park Lions, Holton Road, Cyncoed, Caerphilly, Thornhill, Maerdy, Dinas Powys, apologies if I have left anybody out.

Thanks also to the stall holders, St John’s Ambulance, Dinas Powys Scouts, VOG Parkie, and especially for all the hard work put in by club managers and members who helped make the day such a success.

We hope to learn and maybe improve on the day in the future and if you have any comments please send them to dinaspowysfc@f2s.com.
The first Football Club Summer Ball was held at a transformed Parish Hall in Dinas Powys on Saturday 11th July 2009. Thanks to the hard work put in by Commercial Manager, Jan Cunningham, and her willing team of helpers the night was a resounding success with over a hundred people sitting down to good food and excellent entertainment provided by Mark Thompson and Lucy and Bryn Llewellyn. The evening was so successful that there have already been enquiries about reserving tables if the event is staged again next year. Our thanks to all who attended and to everybody who made the evening possible.
