Match Reports - Under 15's Saturday 5th April 2008 - Dinas Powys U15's 1 Barry Athletic Under 15's 2 The Dinas boys faced their toughest test of the season against current league champions Barry Athletic and can consider themselves more than a little unfortunate not to have got a result. The 1st half saw quite an even game with all area's of the field well contested. The Dinas back four of Llewellyn, Foat, Todd-Bennett and T.Davies were coping well with the talented Athletic forwards whilst the midfield of Evans, Vidal, Hall and Hume scrapped for every ball. The front pair for Dinas of R. Davies and Wiltshire were tireless in their efforts but it was clear to see that both defences were on top. however with 5 minutes to half time Vidal produced a stunning lob into the top corner which gave Dinas a half-time advantage. HT 1-0
The early part of the 2nd half saw the Dinas boys under increased pressure and Phillips in the Dinas goal was called into action on several occasions. With Dinas having weathered the early pressure they nearly doubled their lead midway through the half when a superbly flighted free-kick from Hall was well won by Vidal but agonizingly it went inches past the far post. Barry Athletic got their equaliser with 15 minutes left to play when a free-kick floated into the box wasn't cleared by the home defence and an athletic forward poked the ball home. The game looked to be heading for a draw when in the last minute a ball down the Dinas left found a clearly off-side athletic forward touch the ball past Todd-Bennett and score past the on-rushing keeper.
This was a travesty for the Dinas lads who had worked so hard to get the result they would have deserved. Man Of The Match went to Kyle Foat for his superb performance at the centre of the Dinas Defence. FT 1-2
Saturday 23rd February 2008 - Barry Allstars 1 Dinas Powys 4 The Dinas lads completed the double over Barry Allstars with a well taken Hat-trick by centre forward Ryan Garland and a neat finish from full back James Hume.
Dinas began the game very slowly and found themselves behind after 20 minutes when a shot from just inside the box beat the outstretched arms of Thomas in the Dinas goal. The Dinas midfield of Foat, T.Davies, Hall and R.Davies were finding it hard against a talented Allstars midfield and were grateful on several occasions to the back four of Llewellyn, Todd-bennett, G.Davies and Hume. The Allstars goal seemed to stir the Dinas team into action and within minutes the dangerous forward pairing of Driscoll and Garland brought the scores level, Driscoll beat a couple of defenders on the right and garland nipped in to finish. The second Dinas goal arrived just before half time when a pin point pass from Rowan Davies was cooly slotted home by Garland. HT: Barry Allstars 1 Dinas Powys 2
The second half again proved to be a tight affair and chances were created at both ends before Garland sealed his Hat-trick with a superb chipped finish that beat the on-rushing keeper. After this the game seemed to lose it's intensity and the only other moment of note was the fourth Dinas goal which came in the dying seconds when the impressive Hume popped up in the box to steer a cross from the right into the net. MOM: Redmond Todd-Bennett, (playing his first full game back since a broken ankle).
